About Me

Biography:

Born in Walnut Creek, California, Briana spent a lot of her life moving around to knew cities and states ranging from California, Texas and New York. Photography became a passion for Briana at a young age, sending most of her childhood with a camera always in reach and ready to capture the moments that stood out the most. However, it was not until high school Briana found her true skill and worth in the practice, and realized photography was the craft worth fulfilling. Starting out in photojournalism and sports photography, Briana has now expanded her work to multiple ranges and themes. Still involved in her roots and love for sports photography, she has expanded her styles and allowed her new work to explore themes of feminism, sexuality, fantasy, and realism.

Artist Statement:

I like to photograph subjects whom I have things in common with. Before a shoot, I make an effort to get to know my subjects and figure out where we meet and what we share, to capture and reflect on that. That’s what I want my photos to obtain, the connection I as an artist, share with my subjects models and work, that I am not able, nor comfortable to shoot myself. Yet, at the same time, my photos are a reflection of my feelings and life.
My job is to see; to capture qualities of my subjects that are often over looked and forgotten. I want to see people for who they really are, both the best and worst parts of who they are, the real them. I use to seek fame and recognition in my work, and to be seen, but now that’s not really my concern. I create work to stand for something, to make a difference, and to create something new and original, even if its just for one person or my subjects. There is a lot of ugliness in the world right now, and I just want to finally focus on something that is good and positive. I want to record the life and culture that exists in my present, but the beauty of it; these are the moments I want to remember and be grateful for.
